Our Eco Journey
The Before…
Before we go any further, let me set the scene. We’re currently living in a 4 bed detached house somewhere in the southern half of England. We’re 2 adults and 2 kids, with (I suspect) a fairly normal mix of Electricity and Gas usage.
I’ve been wanting to get solar and a heatpump on the house for a while. Not only from the point of saving some money on our energy bills, but also just for the eco credentials of being able to generate a proportion of our energy locally from the sun rather than just drawing from the grid, and then not having to burn a bunch of natural gas to heat and wash ourselves.
Despite the good intentions, I’d not been able to financially take the step to do either solar or a heatpump before now, but a change in financial circumstances means that I now have the ability to do both, and do them properly.
So this is our journey…
